Transition security is a service of the employment authorities for those whos employment is being terminated for production or financial reasons. From the beginning of 2023, the extended transition security intended for those over 55 came into effect.

Employees covered by extented transition security are entitled to

  • transition security allowance
  • transition security training
  • employment leave, which is 5, 15 or 25 days.

To be eligible for extented transition security, you need to fill all the conditions below:

  • dismissed due to production or finansical reasons after 1.1.2023 - termination of fixed-term employment does not meet the condition
  • turned 55 at the latest on the day of termination
  • worked for the same eployer for at least 5 years at the time of dismissal AND 
  • registered as a jobseeker in the employment authority's service within 60 days of the dismissal. The date of dismissal refers to the day on which the notice of dismissal is given. If the notice period is long, you must therefore register in the employment authority's service before the end of the employment relationship.
