Transition security allowance is a lump sum payment equal to one month's salary. The allowance is paid by your unemployment fund even if you have joined the fund just before dismissal. If you were not a member of any unemployment fund on the day of dismissal, the allowance is pay by Kela.

Transition security allowance must be applied for within 3 months of the end of the employment relationship with an application form found in the WebKassa -service. Transition security allowance does not affect unemployment insurance and does not require unemployment. The allowance is paid, even if you are immediately re-employed by another employer.

The amount of transition security allowance is based on wages paid by the dismissing employer in the previos 12 months. Wages paid by other employers are not included in the calculation. 

Transition security training is training that improves professional skills or entrepreneurial skills and is intended to promote rapid employment. The TE office organizes the training after receiving information from the employer about the dismissed persons.

Attending transition security training is voluntary and you can refuse it without losing your unemployment security.

The value of the transition security training corresponds to a maximum of 2 months' salary. The training can last a maximum of 6 months.
